Alex Fagin

Gear & Facilities Manager

A St. Louis native, Alex returned to Missouri and joined the Unbridled Media team after spending 3 years in Reno, NV building commercial hydroponic farming facilities at a startup he co-founded. There he specialized in project management, accounts, and strategy. Passionate about storytelling, Alex began his career in media while in college freelancing various on-set positions for lots of different production companies. Through those experiences he cultivated timeless relationships that taught him how to tell a compelling story through thoughtful pre-production and true teamwork. Alex is driven by curiosity and will be the first to tell you, he’s always learning. He believes storytelling is the ultimate team sport and is passionate about supporting the team in any way that he can! When he is not working, you can bet he’s cooking, rock climbing, brewing beer, learning guitar, or sleeping 🙂

Moment that sparked your passion

My mom always had a VHS camcorder handy for home movies when my brother and I were kids. As I grew older I ended up using that same camera to make movies and tell stories with my friends.

Howl’s Moving Castle

Favorite Quote

I’m just trying to make my favorite music. That’s how I work; I just do things based on the way they feel to me. I want to be touched by the music I’m making. Luckily other people have shared that response to my work over the years.

Personal Hobbies

Outside of work I like to make things (cooking and crafts), I’m learning to play the guitar, and I like to be active outside as much as possible.

Favorite Childhood Memory

My friend and I made a grappling hook out of coat hangers, duct tape, and found rope with aspirations to be like Batman. I took it to my local playground, went to the top of the slide, tied it to a single belt loop on my jeans, and jumped off. Sadly it did not work…My pants exploded and I injured my arm. I look back on this as one of my earliest memories following my imagination.

Best quality others notice

I can’t speak for other people but I would hope people know that I really care and want to listen.

Dream travel destination

Grotte de la Triperie in France. I met a guy who sent me a map to this place and told me I needed to go there. He spoke with certainty. I would probably take him or a close friend.

Favorite TV Show

A three-way tie between the Batman Animated Series (Bruce Timm), Pinky and the Brain, and Twin Peaks

When asked: “If you were a piece of filmmaking gear, what would you be?” Alex said: “Macbook Pro

“Assuming time travel is possible… what would 10-years-from-now version of you tell you today?” Alex said: “Try and hear it all but listen only to what is in front of you.”

“What is the coolest thing that’s happened to you?” Alex said: “I walked on to a grass airfield one day on the side of a highway to look at a few single engine planes that were sitting out. I ended up striking a conversation with an old man named John. We instantly hit it off and he asked if I wanted to go up… When we landed his whole family, grandchildren and all, had arrived. We drank and swapped stories in his hangar for the rest of the day. He was a really cool person and it was awesome getting to listen to him. It was one of the most random days I’ve experienced and I look back on it fondly.”

Thanks for being unapologetically you, Alex.
