Moment that sparked your passion

Seeing the first couple videos I produced and directed go from idea to completion early in my career. I loved everything about – – see an idea come to life, collaborating with other folks, making adjustments along the way, etc. Just remember feeling very gratified, content and proud of the videos, but maybe moreso with the act of creation.

Desert island movie

Impossible to pick one, but Amelie and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off are the two I keep coming back to in my head.

Favorite Quote

“Here is the world. Beautiful and terrible things will happen. Don’t be afraid.” – Frederick Buechner

Personal Hobbies

Hiking, mushroom hunting (specifically chanterelles and morels), reading (all genres, but I lean heavily into historical non-fiction), all things music (live shows, finding new music, making playlists, sharing music)

Favorite Childhood Memory

I grew up spending a month each summer at a camp in the Ozarks. We got to ride horses, shoot guns, wander around the woods and creeks and just generally have a great time. I still have many close friendships from the years I went there.

When asked: “If you were a piece of filmmaking gear, what would you be?” Nate said: “Camera

“Assuming time travel is possible… what would 10-years-from-now version of you tell you today?” Nate said: “Put your phone down and go hang out with your kids.”

“What is the coolest thing that’s happened to you?” Nate said: “My grandpa was a navigator in a B-17 and was shot down over Normandy in WW2. Many years later, a farmer found pieces of his plane and the nearby village invited him to come to France to be honored by the village citizens and presented with the pieces of his plane. I was studying in London at the time and was able to go with my Grandpa and Grandma to this village. It was an incredibly moving experience.

Thanks for being unapologetically you, Nate.
